Windows awarding error "cannot execute binary file: Exec format error"

I have a program that was made on and for Windows XP years dorsum, which tin convert .tex textures to .jpg/.png/.tga. The program works flawlessly when double-clicked, but the result is that I wanna use information technology through concluding to mass-convert .tex images and textures to .png, considering yous tin can't exercise mass-import and mass-export with it unless you use the final (and utilize programming to it, doesn't matter, though). However, the terminal tells me there'south an "Exec format error" and searching hither didn't actually assist me. All I institute is that the issue of that can be that my system is 32 bits simply program is 64, which isn't the case hither.

Here'south a link to screenshots that should help you guys with help: https://imgur.com/a/1nLY59w (Error* -> System info -> Wine installs [literally all]).

* The command basically takes the location of the plan (don't know why I'm explaining this function), the texture I wanna catechumen and then the output. "ul01" is the texture, .tex -> .png.

PS: I actually have to use this specific program considering the files I use accept a signature that blocks online and other converters from reading it. Already tried a few websites, with hopes I could automate it differently, but with no success.

Hi. Welcome to the list.

The program works flawlessly when double-clicked

How do you give information technology the input file proper name when running this style?

Tin can you supply that program? Apparently it is not the ane at the bottom of this page:
https://developer.nvidia.com/legacy-texture-tools

When double-clicking the program, a window is opened in which I can open the desired file, view it and export if I want to.

And if you mean in the console, so I've provided a screenshot which contains it already in the beginning mail (basically get-go screenshot in the listing, not gonna re-post it considering it'd clutter too much).

The programme tin can be downloaded from here https://titanquest.4fansites.de/downloa ... er_11.html (simply click the "mirror 1" and information technology starts downloading). I'g not sure if whatever .tex texture/image would work so here's a texture: https://mega.nz/file/GWgCyBpL#HW_XbMK2f ... uR_rxmkCBs

You tin zoom the images. The wine installation one is 2000x4000 or something, so opening in a new tab and pressing on it should zoom it to nice, readable size, and if yous have a very big screen, zooming the whole browser is the simply way, unfortunately. :/
Gonna think to provide a "code version" next time, though, along with screenshots (for better readability).

I did try what yous suggested, but it nonetheless doesn't like me:

Okay, and then I've googled a little and all that I've found is that it just works, merely it doesn't work for me. Is in that location something I should know and I don't? Literally everywhere I've searched people either talked about something not working and then working using the command "winconsole" or using another completely dissimilar program that has and uses cmd and can use it. I don't know if I should carp with it any more at this betoken, any ideas?

I assume the response is this:

Code: Select all

error "fustigate: winconsole: command non found"

Aye, that'due south the error I'chiliad getting, which I also wrote above my last post.

Adios, I think yous should consider rewriting your program to run on Linux. Do you have the source code?

I'd love to practice that, simply I'm not the author of the program and the author was last agile years ago. Don't know if they themselves fifty-fifty accept the source code anymore.

Mail the exact command you are entering.

Lawmaking: Select all

                  winconsole Important/Texture_Viewer_1.1/Texture_Viewer_1.1.exe Of import/Texture_Viewer_1.1/ul01.tex Important/Texture_Viewer_1.one/ul01.png

I did make certain the path to the file is the advisable path.
I've also tried this with random thoughts I'm doing something incorrect (as well tried just "winconsolse cmd" and so enter, but cipher happened equally well - "control not found")

Code: Select all

                  winconsole cmd Important/Texture_Viewer_1.1/Texture_Viewer_1.1.exe Important/Texture_Viewer_1.1/ul01.tex Of import/Texture_Viewer_1.ane/ul01.png

BTW, y'all can copy stuff out of the terminal past using Ctrl-Shift-c and and so edit what you paste in this forum - unremarkably in code tags (</>).
Or if you want to alter the final to a elementary '$' you can do this in the terminal:

Code: Select all

                  PS1=$ PROMPT_COMMAND= echo -en "\033]0;My_Terminal\a"

I am working a job at present, and then I won't be responding as fast. If y'all need a speedy response from me please quote my postal service. I volition try to get to those a niggling quicker. Thanks.

That'due south a cool tip, all the same I always forget about that... Still got my flawed mindset from Windows, where I couldn't copy from console no matter what I tried (probably had something broken, just doesn't affair).

It'due south not you. Simply hang in at that place.
I'm thinking your Wine is bankrupt. I could be wrong, but that is what I say.
Merely then you know wineconsole will open up a window similar this:

winec.png
winec.png (nine.thirteen KiB) Viewed 482 times

And this control:

in your terminal will open the same contents within your terminal window.

So now you tin can try to set your Wine. Somebody else will recommend how to practise that.
Or you lot tin can endeavour to install Play-on-Linux, which is in the Software Manager.
If you choose to install Play-on-Linux I say y'all tin can go out your currently broken Wine merely similar information technology is.
Or you might cull to uninstall it first. I recollect either way is ok.
If I were going to uninstall it I would use Synaptic Parcel Manager to do so.
Search for Wine and marking some or all of information technology for removal.

I am working a job now, and so I won't exist responding every bit fast. If you need a speedy response from me delight quote my post. I volition effort to get to those a little quicker. Thank yous.

Then now y'all can try to fix your Wine. Somebody else will recommend how to exercise that.
Or you lot can try to install Play-on-Linux, which is in the Software Manager.
If y'all choose to install Play-on-Linux I say yous can leave your currently broken Wine simply similar information technology is.

Ok, I reinstalled Wine and used wineconsole, and information technology did work. However, now I'm 100% sure the programme merely doesn't want what I want. The console opens, even so this plan notwithstanding doesn't want to piece of work.

Give thanks you all for your time and help. I'll just expect till I can get a new GPU and revive my quondam windows system with my current GPU, and then I'll practise what I wanted to exercise right now. Thank you, everyone, one time once more!
